The Royal Thai Consulate General in Chicago, Illinois, USA

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the Royal Thai Consulate-general in Chicago, Illinois in the United States. The address of that post is

700 North Rush Street,
Chicago, Illinois 60611 - 2504.

We are going to go ahead and put this up as well. It is sort of an info graphic. This is from the Thai Embassy website and if you notice there the Thai Consulate-general in Illinois has jurisdiction over the Yellow States; the states that are up there in yellow. Those states include Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma. So each of those States is within the jurisdiction of the Thai Consulate-general in Chicago and if you are seeking to process a visa application for Thailand for example a visa application for a Visa such as a Thai Tourist visa, a Thai Business Visa, a Thai O Visa, a Thai Retirement Visa, perhaps a Thai Education Visa; all of those types of applications will have to be routed through that Consulate-general if you live in one of those states.

Now it should also be noted that there is sort of supplemental Consular jurisdiction associated with Thai Honorary Consulates in the United States that may exist in other states but depending on the visa category, it may not be possible to process a Visa through such a post and in my opinion, as time goes on we are going to see more and more that the Consulates-general as well as the Thai Embassy in the United States are going to increasingly have more exclusive jurisdiction over visa adjudication related matters. Now that being stated, as of the time of this video it is still possible to process through an Honorary Consulate but how that is going to play out in the future remains to be seen.

It should be noted there is a great deal of documentation required in association with the application for certain types of visas in the United States and for this reason it may not be a terrible idea to contact a legal professional in order to get some guidance, insight and assistance possibly in processing a visa application to Thailand through the Consulate General in Chicago or one of the other Consulates or the Embassy in Washington DC.
