I haven't made a video like this in quite a while but every once in a while something pops up and oh wow, I should do a video on that again. Yeah I had somebody ask me the other day, this was in the context of US Immigration, and they were saying "well do you have a guarantee because "so and so" guarantees the outcome". I went and found out that "so-and-so" was a complete fly by night operation, completely in violation of 8 CFR 292.1 which requires that the only people that can be the paid basically to provide Immigration Services are Attorneys and that is pretty clear there. 

The reason for the video more than that, is more the issue with regard to the notion of a guarantee. Legal Services cannot be guaranteed. There is no legal proceeding that can be guaranteed. Visas and Immigration are legal proceedings; they cannot be guaranteed. Now in a Thai context I think that is the same as well. I have seen situations where people think "oh it's a foregone conclusion I am going to get this Visa” and then boom they don't get it. Meanwhile, the person that guaranteed you, where are they at? How are you going to get your money? Are you going to be able to get it back? Probably not, and they don't really care. To me it is just a telltale sign of a sort of fly by night operation that they issue a "guarantee".

This kind of fell by the wayside here in Thailand. It used to be a really common thing and then I did some stuff on it, some other people kind of made it clear to folks out in the public that look there is no guarantee. Now I work as hard as I possibly can to get the outcomes for my clients that they are seeking but I am never going to tell you that any outcome is going to be guaranteed because there is no Attorney worth their salt out there, in any context, that can guarantee any outcome really in any legal matter.
