Thailand "Top 10" For Retirement Due To "Friendly Visa Policy"?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Retirement Visas here in Thailand yet again. A pretty popular topic on this channel because quite honestly Thailand is a pretty popular destination for those looking to travel or retire, long-term travel or retirement out in this part of the world. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from EVN Express.Net, that's e.vnexpress.net, and bear in mind this is a Vietnamese publication, so I thought this was interesting, the article is titled: Friendly Visa policy puts Thailand among world's top 10 retirement destinations. Quoting directly: "Thailand was the only Southeast Asian country to break into top 10 retirement destinations in the world according to a list compiled by Irish publisher, International Living. Quote "Thailand has been a popular destination for retirees for decades and provides long-term visas for people over 50.", the Irish publisher said." So I thought that was interesting.

Yeah credit where credit is due. As we have discussed in other videos, there really aren't any Retirement Visa schemes in this part of the world that really rival Thailand in my estimation. When I say that, I should say yes there are other Retirement Visa schemes most notably things like Philippines have some options for folks who want to retire, but in the totality of everything, when you take everything and look at it sort of from a macro level, Thailand really is one of the best destinations on earth to retire, notably because again the Retirement Visa requirements are not overly onerous by any metric, the way I can see.

Meanwhile, on top of that you get the infrastructure of Thailand which is top notch as far as this region in the world. That being said Vietnam, it is my understanding is starting to build up to these levels. I mean yes Malaysia and Singapore, but Malaysia's program for Retirement Visas, the Malaysia My Second Home Program, as we have discussed in other videos, again it's far more expensive than the Retirement Visa schemes that are on offer here in Thailand. Again Singapore, cost of living issues factor in there but when you look at everything in total, one really sees that yeah Thailand really is a, I would say easily in the top 10 retirement destinations worldwide. Definitely I would say number one with a bullet for lack of a better term in terms of retirement destinations here in Southeast Asia, when you when you look at everything. It's not just the Visa program because other jurisdictions may be easier to deal with Immigration in those places. But those other places don't have the infrastructure; they don't have the cost of living; they don't have the standard of living that comes along with retirement in Thailand. So I would say yeah it makes sense that Thailand is on the top 10 for retirement for retirees looking to retire abroad.
