As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing an Airport as a key gateway in this region. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Indigo Airlines and U-Tapau Airport to boost Pattaya tourism. Quoting directly: "A high-level delegation from Indigo Airlines, India's largest passenger airline, visited U-Tapau Pattaya-Rayong International Airport on Friday, December 15, to explore opportunities for cooperation and partnership with the airport and the local tourism authorities." Quoting further: "The visit and discussions were seen as a positive step toward fostering international partnerships and enhancing the appeal of the airport as a key gateway in the region. The airport continues to explore opportunities to collaborate with airlines and stakeholders to boost tourism and economic activities in the Rayong and Pattaya areas." This is great news to me. I think this is just fantastic. 

As we have discussed in other videos Indians have turned out to be kind of the surprise, if you will, hit in the tourism sector in terms of demography. There seems to be a great deal of Indian demand for touring here in Thailand; being tourists here in Thailand; coming over here enjoying Thailand as tourists, and I have got to say, this is great. It was kind of a surprise to everybody. I don't think folks really sort of saw this coming, but look, I mean India's economy has been growing at a rapid clip for a number of years and folks want to come enjoy themselves in Thailand; I think this is absolutely great. 

More to the point though with regarded this video is yeah U-Tapau Airport I think is going to end up being a major epicentre of not only tourism but trade here in Thailand, specifically down in the Eastern Economic Corridor and I think it is going to be really interesting to watch how this develops. I think this is just one more story in sort of an overarching narrative of overall positive and upward sort of movement in terms of the Thai economy especially within the Eastern Economic Zone. Again, I think this is only a good thing and we will certainly keep you updated on this channel about these developments as they evolve.
