Retirement Visa Scammer Arrested in Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the Retirement Visa and some recent news with respect to Immigration’s enforcement mechanisms associated with catching folks dealing with scams associated with Retirement Visas.

In the recent article from Thai Visa, that is thaivisa.com, the article is titled: Thai Woman in 30 Million Retirement Visa Scam Nabbed in Bangkok. Quoting directly: "The Thai woman who conned Japanese and Singaporean retirees to invest in a retirement scam has been arrested in Ladkrabang, Bangkok along with her Japanese husband who helped to convince the victims, promised 10% returns on investment in providing loans to retirees to satisfy the 800,000 Baht Visa extension process." For those who are unaware, those in Thailand who wish to extend their retirement status need to have a bank account with 800,000 Baht balance in it at the time they seek their extension. They also need to maintain a minimum of 400,000 Baht throughout the year and there are requirements associated with the maintenance of the 800, as opposed to the 400 that need to be adhered to in order to continue to maintain status ongoing. It appears that this person, I did read the details but it was a little vague in certain parts, I would encourage those people who are watching this that find this interesting to go ahead and check out thaivisa.com. Again, the article is titled: Thai woman in 30 Million Retirement Visa Scam Nabbed in Bangkok.

Yeah, this is a big deal. Thai Immigration takes enforcement a lot more seriously than they used to. They cracked down here recently on some issues associated with folks, I believe it was Russians, who were engaging in some kind of fraudulent activity associated with Retirement Visas. Thai Immigration takes this stuff seriously; so should you. It is a good idea to maintain your status and keep an eye on it because problems can arise if you try to cut corners.
