"Lots Of Foreigners" Confused By Thai Driving License Documents?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing driving license documentation. I thought of making this video after reading recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Pattaya's Survivors: The knowledgeable Cambodian in the Thai Visa Office. Quoting directly: Quote: Lots of foreigners come to our office and are confused by the documentary requirements for a driving license or to open a bank account," says Den," and Den is the Cambodian referred to in the title of the article. As per usual, we certainly urge folks who are watching this video, go check out that article in detail, a lot of good information in there as usual from the Pattaya Mail. Quoting further: Quote: "Not to mention the rules about the registration of address on the TM30 form." Quoting further: "The Law Office also owns its own driving school for both cars and motorbikes and can arrange Ministry of Transport authorized tests."

Yeah, dealing with the Department of Overland Transport or Ministry of Transport here in Thailand can be pretty daunting and especially for those down in Pattaya, it sounds like the folks in this office that are referred to in that article probably might be pretty good folks to talk to if you are looking to get a driving license down there; we assist folks up here in Bangkok. That said, man in a Western context it is almost a trope, the joke is almost cliché dealing with the DMV back in the United States. Over here in Thailand, it is an order of magnitude different because you have got language barriers and then on top of that yeah quite honestly even the Department of Overland Transport is best described as Byzantine in how you deal with them to go ahead and get a driving license here. For that reason, those who come here often find themselves really kind of pulling their hair out trying to get a license to drive in the Kingdom. That said, for those who feel a bit overwhelmed by this, it might not be a terrible idea to contact a legal professional, gain some insight and guidance into how best to proceed.
