Airport Expansion in Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing airport expansion in Thailand. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post, that is bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: New Suvarnabhumi Airport terminal on track for September opening. Quoting directly: "The Airports of Thailand (AoT) will open the new SAT-1 satellite passenger Terminal at Suvarnabhumi Airport in September. AoT President Kerati Kijmanawat said the terminal will handle an additional 15 million passengers per year to boost the airport's total passenger handling capacity to 60 million per year."

Now bear in mind, this was undertaken prior to COVID so present numbers probably don't warrant the expansion but this is a good thing in the longer term, especially in light of the fact there are going to be these connecting rail links between the airports and then down into the Eastern Economic Corridor. This presumably is going to result in substantially higher volumes of numbers of folks traversing through Thailand, travelling through Thailand. So I definitely think this is a good thing long term. Is it precisely needed in the moment? Not exactly.

As noted in other videos on this channel, they are also upgrading many of the systems associated with the Immigration checkpoint which is at the Suvarnabhumi Airport so again that may have ramifications in an ongoing basis for Immigration processing through that airport, hopefully making things faster. That said, we will keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
