Wanna Speed Up US Immigration Processing?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing trying to speed up the US Immigration Process. For anybody going through it right now, I got folks that are in process for K-1 Fiancé Visas, US Marriage Visas, it ain't fun by any stretch of the imagination. This is not great times. We are still coming off what they are calling the COVID backlog although at this point it is kind of "why is that backlog still there? you can't figure out a way to make that kind of move along?" But okay, setting that aside, we have talked about that, I was talking about this with a client today; the system is not in the best shape; I have made my issues known with it. There are folks out there that talk about "yeah you can sue them". Yeah there are writs of mandamus, you can file that. In my opinion is I'm wondering how much of a difference that makes in terms of sort of the cost benefit of how quickly those cases move along versus what it costs to do that. Again that is going to depend on specific circumstances but back to the title of the video.
You really want to speed up the US Immigration Process? Contact your Congressman, contact your Senators and tell them why do we have this broken Immigration System in more ways than one. I was watching some interview the other day with Governor DeSantis down in Florida, I'm not trying to get political here, but they were grilling him about something to do with, I don't even remember what it was but it ended up being due to Immigration and as he said, he said, "well we are dealing with it because there are these problems at the border. There are issues regarding security at the border." I am not there, I don't know frankly. I haven't been in the US in years; I don't know exactly what's going on at the border; I see news coverage of it, hard for me to determine what's what there. I do talk to other colleagues in the United States. Some say it's more exaggerated than it seems. Others have actually said "no, frankly it's a bigger issue than it seems." What I do know is that on one hand it appears there are folks going into the United States illegally and then on the other hand, we have got people who are doing everything correctly that have been sitting in backlogs, useless backlogs from what I can tell, for months if not years at a time.
So if you really want to speed this thing up, let's get a hold of Congress and let's do some comprehensive Immigration Reform. Let's see something here because this is pretty darn bad. I mean I usually do not call for people to get sort of political on Immigration issues but we are at a point and this is a nonpartisan thing. I don't care which side of the divide you are on with regard to Immigration. Where I think we are at now is; pro-immigration, pro stricter Immigration, pro more lax Immigration; whatever you are, I think everybody at this point can agree the system as it is ain't working.
