"Crackdown on Every Form of Immigration to the US"?
Transcript of the above video:
At the title of this video suggests, we are discussing a Crackdown on all forms of US Immigration. Let's get into this. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from CNN that's edition.cnn.com, the article is titled: How Trump is intensifying his Crackdown on every form of immigration to the US. Quoting directly: "President Donald Trump's latest immigration crackdowns, prompted by the shooting of two National Guard members, means he has now halted or significantly tightened every legal and illegal form of foreign entry into the US" - stopping there real quick. I think it's important for folks who watch this channel, to know, and you've seen my history on this, illegal immigration I have serious, serious problems with. I consider it a direct threat to American sovereignty or any sovereignty to any country, Thailand too. It's not good to have people that are just coming into your country, not obeying the laws from the get-go, and it does at a certain point begin to call into question whether or not the term invasion needs to be utilized.
That being stated, I think it's important to point out that there is a big difference between legal and illegal immigration, and I really have some qualms and issues - some of the ICE stuff that's going on in America, that's in its own league, I'm not talking about that for purposes of this video - but I really have questions as to whether or not it's necessary to really start hassling people that have been standing in line, abroad, for a prolonged period of time trying to do things legally. Causing those people problems I really don't see what the benefit is to the country to do that. I get what the benefit is to the country to expel people and to forestall people from getting into lawful status who initially came into the United States illegally; I understand the thinking behind that. But the people who are trying to do it legally from the get-go, I think that's bad policy. That said, quoting further: "prompting widespread fear and confusion among immigrants who are unsure what will happen to their pending cases." Quoting further: "Trump's mass deportation campaign has garnered attention for its heavy-handed arrest tactics of undocumented immigrants nationwide" and again, I understand the need for some of that.
Now I have real questions where they're hassling US citizens and detaining people without probable cause. I mean ICE, this whole thing needs to be re-examined. But that being said, the fundamental issue of whether or not immigration enforcement should apprehend, detain, and deport those who've entered the country illegally and are not in lawful status in the United States, I don't think that that's in question. I think most people agree with that notion. That said, again the heavy-handedness and the abrogation of citizens’ privileges and immunities of US citizenship is a real problem. That said, quoting further: "But the administration's steady drumbeat of incremental changes to the US Immigration System has also been disruptive - gumming up and already-arduous process for millions of people." Yeah, well put. The US Immigration system is already half broken. It's Byzantine to say the least. I mean I've been doing this for 18 years. I do US Immigration work. I don't particularly love it, but I'm pretty good at it all things considered. The system, for example, had a case involving a client where for whatever reason they have rejected my G28, my notice of appearance in the case. Don't know why, sent them back a letter that said, "hey, here's my G28 again if that's what you want." And all of this kind of rinky-dink stuff seems to have started after this Administration came in.
Again, I have no problem with Mr. Trump and the Administration going after illegal folks, but to just throw up these sort of regulatory and administrative hassles associated with an otherwise legal process of obtaining lawful status in the United States, by people who are willing to wait in line and obey the law on it, I find that again bad policy.
That being said remains to be seen how all of this plays out and how this whole pause associated with Trump's sort of "it's not a ban, it's a pause” on the issuing new visas, how all this is going to play out remains to be seen, and we will certainly be keeping you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
