As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing CR-1 and IR-1 Visas. These are Spousal Visas for the spouse, in most of the cases I deal with, these are going to be spouses of American citizens, Immigrant Spouse Visas to be precise. So these are visas wherein one enters the US in immigrant status basically Green Card status is conferred at entry. 

The reason for the video is there has recently been promulgated a new rule associated with the Public Charge Rule. There have been new regulations handed down. I personally am still researching it. I will be doing further updates on this topic as the situation evolves. But what folks should be aware of is yes, starting in December new rules are going to be coming online with regard to the Public Charge Rule. 

Now to me from just basically kind of skimming over it, it doesn't look too dissimilar. This video by the way feels a bit like déjà vu because I did one under the Trump Administration because a, I hesitate to call it similar, but a rule which was kind of aiming at dealing with the same thing was promulgated then; it was sort of rescinded; we were in this kind of weird limbo period for a little while. Long story short, or it went away. Now it is kind of coming back. From what I can gather thus far, it's not nearly as onerous as the rule under the last Administration was but it does have some new requirements in order to show that an intending immigrant is not going to become a public charge. Again this will be coming online at the beginning of December and is likely to have ongoing ramifications for the Immigration process.
