Will Thai Immigration Allow a 45 Day Exemption Stamp?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing 45-day exemption stamps and whether or not we might see Thai Immigration go to a permanent 45-day stamp. It remains to be seen but the reason for the video is I was reading a recent article in the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Pattaya Grapevine: Immigration Melody; I thought that was a catchy title there and I urge those who are watching this video, a lot of information in that article. You can go check that out for yourself on the Pattaya Mail.

In any event, under the sort of a subheading: After 45 days, quote: "The 30 days Visa exempt entry for nationals of almost 60 countries, now including Saudi Arabia, is expected to move to 45 days. At the moment, such arrivals can extend at Immigration for a further month (30+30). Once 45 days comes in, will there be an extension? Will it be for 7 or 30 or 45 days? Nobody knows at the moment." Interesting. That is s good question. That would probably occur regulatorily so we will probably have to wait for you regulations to be promulgated. My personal speculation, let me be clear it is speculation, I have been wrong on my speculation in the past, but I expect we will see a 45-45 structure. Usually when we see policies associated with Visa exemption stamps, they usually do things on a double-double kind of setup so it is a "double bubble" if you will. If you initially get 30, you can extend by 30, if you initially get 45, you can extend by 45. That said, there are some bilateral arrangements out there between Thailand and other countries that allow different time frames to come into Thailand and some of them do not allow extensions

Again, it remains to be seen. My personal opinion, it will probably go to 45 days; it will be 45 and 45 for those 60 countries to whom it applies but that is not the case yet and frankly at this time we simply don't know. We will basically try to keep up on this topic as the situation progresses.
