Will Proposed Thai Visa Changes Really Attract That Many People?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we have discussed at length on this channel in a number of videos, the proposed new visa categories to attract wealthy expats etc. and I have had a number of emails that just basically say exactly what this title says. "How many people do they think they are honestly going to get?"

I don't know. Their number seems to be, they are trying to attract a million people, a million wealthy expats to come to Thailand. Will that work? I don't know, it is tough to say. I would say they are going to have a hard time. A million people is a lot of people and these are high thresholds. I feel a lot of folks are going to be a bit hesitant to invest a half a million dollars in Thailand or a quarter million dollars in real estate. I can see some of these categories could actually attracts some folks but how many multinational employees are going to want to work from Thailand. I am not saying it won't attract people. I do think that there will be folks that are going to find some benefit out of this. Exactly how many obviously remains to be seen. The notion that it is going to hit a million, I think that is a tough number to hit.

That being said, there are a number of folks that love living in Thailand. I am one of them. Thailand is a great place to live. So this might lure in a number of people. We will keep folks updated on the overall issue as the situation evolves.
