Will Changing Visa Insurance Rules Impact All Retirees in Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Retirement Visas here in Thailand; specifically were discussing insurance coverage for Retirement Visas here in Thailand. A question on the lips of many has been and is and I have talked to some folks since this has all started coming down the pike has been: "Does this apply to O Retirement Visas?"

Now I was going to go ahead and just do this video just on my own and not cite any place but I really appreciated the article that came out of Pattaya Mail, pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Long stay retirees in Thailand to be allowed to self-insure. Notwithstanding the fact we have discussed this at length many times, O-A Visas have these insurance requirements. O Retirement Visas do not. I have discussed it before but I thought it was worth quoting and I quote: "It should be noted that the October 1 revisions apply only to the O-A Visa and annual extensions. Retirees living here with alternative permissions -- for example the Elite Visa, non-immigrant "O" extensions of stay based on Marriage or Retirement (or retirement, O Retirement) -- are not mentioned in the Ministry announcement." So a shout out to those folks. They had this mentioned in their article and we have discussed their article in some of these videos on Retirement Visas and insurance. I wanted to go ahead and give them credit where credit is due because I did read it when I was reading that article. But yeah we have noted this for a long time now. All of these provisions pertain to O-A Retirees, O-A Retirement Visas, not O Retirees, NOT O Retirement Visas. Apologies for the confusion right there. Sometimes all these rules and all of these changes and everything even baffle me.
