Will Anything Change for Thai Work Permits?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing possible changes to the Thai Work Permit regime here in the Kingdom. We are doing this because as we have noted in other videos on this channel, the Emergency Decree is ending going out of September into October 2022 and there are a number of changes.
I have discussed a number of possible changes that may be happening in upcoming weeks. Especially notable are issues surrounding what is called conversion of status into Business Visa or Work Permit status here in the Kingdom. While I think it's something to keep an eye on, the possibility that conversions especially in a Visa context are not necessarily going to be what they once were. Work Permit status, I just don't think we are going to see a lot of major changes with respect to the way in which Work Permits are issued here in the Kingdom moving forward notwithstanding the major changes we have seen with the rescission of the Emergency Decree and yeah I think it is going to have reverberations throughout the system but within the context of Thai Work Permits no, I think we are probably going to be dealing with things kind of as they have been dealt with here over the past few years. Work Permit policy has not largely evolved much during the pandemic and I don't anticipate it changing very much at least as we see out the year 2022. So hopefully into the foreseeable future, we are not going to see any major changes with respect to Work Permits. Quite honestly I don't anticipate that being the case.
