Why Is Everyone Coming To Thailand To Beg?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, this is going to be kind of a funny one from my perspective. It is like why is everybody coming to Thailand to beg?

I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Nation, that is nationthailand.com, the article is titled: Chinese Nationals begging in Bangkok not victims of trafficking, says Immigration Chief. Quoting directly: "Pol Lt-General Ittipol Ittisarnronnachai, the Immigration Bureau chief, addressed these concerns at a press conference on Monday. Seven Chinese men and women have been arrested for begging on Bangkok streets since November 10th. The arrests were prompted by comments on social media, suggesting that human traffickers may be exploiting Thailand's Visa waiver program. The individuals caught exhibited facial deformities or had crippled hands or fingers."

Yeah they get into saying look those folks were not deformed intentionally, they just were, whatever. They are foreign nationals. My first question is if they are from the mainland of China, I thought that the great communist experiment would take care of those people. I don't understand why they need to come down here and beg on our streets here in Thailand.

More to the point, why does everyone come here to beg? I did videos about this years ago talking about "begpackers", so-called "begpackers". There were backpackers that would come to Thailand, then sit around on the streets and sell trinkets. Sorry, Thailand isn't interested in that. If you want to come over here and do business; if you want to come over here and retire; if you want to come over here and be a tourist. Now I guess, yeah, if you want to go through all the process like I did and become a naturalized citizen, I guess I could walk down to the local police precinct; as we have discussed they now have kind of a begging permit. Basically there are beggars and they go and they get a document that says "hey I am allowed to be on the street", this is for Thais by the way. I guess in theory, I could go get my begging permit and sit around on the street and beg. I'm not really interested in doing that.

That said, non-Thai nationals, why are they coming here to beg? Is Thailand that nice a country that you come here and sort of feed on our kindness or the largesse of our generosity? That just is insane and I think it needs to stop. It has happened in the past; I was highly critical of it in a Farang context and now that we are seeing it in a Chinese context, it is like why is this happening? Stop this. Hopefully we will sort of see the end of this. Law enforcement seems to be on top of it, so as per usual, I will keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
