As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Thailand Elite visas again, specifically what the heck is going on with these things because there has been a lot of news out there. Thailand Elite itself came out and said some things, then they kind of u-turned on it. So, sort of where do things stand? I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail that is pattayamail.com article is titled: Thailand Elite cancels Visa change at the last minute. Quoting directly: "The cancellation of the order which had originally been announced on August 1, began a two weeks flurry of confusion for holders of the 5-year option within the Elite Program of Visa choices. The most likely reason for the cancellation is legal advice to top Elite management that they could face action in the courts from some Visa holders arguing that their terms and conditions had been arbitrarily altered and with hardly any notice. There are currently 25,000 - 30,000 Elite members under all programs with the most popular option being 'easy access' for 5 years multiple entry."

So yeah, as we have discussed in other videos, this whole thing has been in a state of flux. Where do things stand at the moment? Well presently they have rolled back the deadline of August 15th for those looking to convert or extend from an already existing Thailand Elite Visa although again as noted in a prior video I may contemporaneously with this one, the fact of the matter is it is still kind of up in the air as to where exactly, okay there's no deadline to do it at least at present, but there's still some ambiguity regarding costs, if the costs are going to remain the same for those who came in under the old program when they expire at either the end of their term or sometime between now and then, that remains to be seen. That remains to be seen.

What we do know is that new terms and conditions associated with the Thailand Elite Visa will be coming online in October and the exact parameters of that remain to be seen. Again we don't know what the pricing structure is going to be; we don't know if they are going to consolidate a lot of the categories. Quite honestly as of the time of this video, we don't have a lot of knowledge as to what the future of the Thailand Elite system is. What we do know for right now is folks who want to get into the system under the prior terms, need to have done so before the middle of September of 2023 and while although those who are looking to extend or sort of convert their status within the Elite Visa system, they were given a deadline of August 15th which has now as noted in that article, been scrapped so to speak, so where does that leave them? Again regarding cost is somewhat ambiguous; regarding their ability to actually convert or extend that seems at least for now to be tracking with what their particular expiration date is. Now that said and I get it, all of this is quite fluid and so we will try to keep folks updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
