Vaccines Required for Thai Business Visa Extensions?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Business Visas. We are specifically discussing whether or not vaccination could become a mandatory element of Business Visa renewal.

For those who are unaware, Business Visas are a bit of a different animal than for example Retirement Visas. Business Visas have a Work Permit element connected to them and Work Permits do require certain health checks. In fact, on a yearly basis one has to get a check up with a doctor in order to renew a Work Permit here in Thailand. For this reason, and let me go ahead and preface this by saying: Is there currently a vaccination mandate for Work Permits or Business Visas? The answer to that is presently as of the time of this video, No. Could there be? Yes, it is a possibility. I will go ahead and state that. Will there be? I think in the immediately foreseeable future this is highly unlikely for a variety of different reasons.

That being stated, the Business Visa and the Work Permit, if there was a Visa category that I thought, if I was doing makeshift odds making if you will, if there was a category where I thought it would be likely to see a mandatory vaccination requirement, it would probably be in the B category mostly because of the ongoing health checkup requirement associated with Work Permits. Now that said, this could change or what we could see is maybe certain types of folks with certain types of Work Permits especially those who have to deal with the public, maybe they are required to get vaccination under a different set of regulations than what pertains to Immigration and Work Permit; we could see that change in that way. While at the same time folks that don't interact with the public really who have Work Permits are not necessarily required to get the vaccination.

As of the present time, it is not a requirement and when I say the immediately foreseeable future, I do not think this will be requirement into a big chunk of 2020. Again that is one man's opinion. I can't guarantee anything but that said, to me it does not seem likely that it would happen very quickly, if at all.
