As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the Thailand Elite Visa. We did some videos previously where we were discussing major changes that are being brought about in terms of the Thailand Elite Visa and how they had talked about certain deadlines associated with extending Visa status which one had already procured and there appears to be some changes on that score. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that's pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Thailand Elite cancels visa change at the last minute. Quoting directly: "On the very last enrollment day, August 15th, that holders of the 5-year Elite 'easy access' five year visas had been instructed to submit an application for a 15 years upgrade to 20 years in total, they have received an email from Thailand Privilege Card Company informing them that the new rule has suddenly and abruptly been scrapped. They can, after all, update their five year visa just 3 months or more before their personal expiry date. Just like before. But it is still ambiguous whether the transfer fees will remain the same in the future as they are now."

Yeah, as we have discussed, they have been talking about essentially overhauling the Thailand Elite Visa system and we discussed in prior videos the history of that system. General history has been rather fluid; it came about and it went away. Then they said they were going to get rid of it entirely, then they sort of grandfathered folks in, then they reintroduced a new iteration of the program. Now they are talking about an entirely new iteration of the program happening in roughly the next 60 days or sort of coming online in the next 60 days. The issue was the people that were already in the system, what did you do with them especially ones that wanted to go ahead and extend their status within that system etc.? Those folks had a deadline of August 15th but now apparently they can go ahead and deal with extension under their old expiration dates or whenever they expire, but again as noted in this article, it remains to be seen whether the costs of that will remain the same. 

So again, as noted in prior videos, Thailand Elite yet again seems to be in a rather kind of a state of flux if you will. We are assisting with processing for certain cases, especially for new cases, folks who want to get into the system and as we have noted in prior videos there is a deadline going into September for dealing with that. But for those who already have it, again that August 15th deadline has come and gone. Thailand Elite has now said okay we are not going to take such a hard line on that particular issue but again as noted in this article there is still some ambiguity here. So as usual, we will try to keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
