As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing work pre-authorization, Business Visas and Work Permits. A lot of people that are hired for a job in Thailand or they look to set up a Company here in Thailand, there is kind of a process.

Now in the past, especially in the Western countries, sort of the Anglosphere, the EU, it was not particularly difficult to get a Business Visa to Thailand. In fact, there was a time when it was pretty straightforward to get a one-year multi entry Business Visa to Thailand just based on general business activities, it wasn't even based on anything really all that specific. That has changed. There is a work pre-authorization document, we have discussed it at length called the WP3 which is required, these days pretty much required across the board in order to get a Business Visa at a Thai Embassy or Consulate abroad. Then, once you arrive in Thailand, basically you arrive in Business Visa status and then you can go ahead and seek an actual Work Permit, the little blue book that we show often times on the cover of these videos or the card on the cover of these videos, that's the actual Work Permit. 

So there is a difference between the work pre-authorization which kind of is a catch-22 especially for folks looking to set up a Company. Now we assist people in finding solutions to that problem and they are out there. It is possible to kind of put the cart before the horse if you will, get everything sorted to get work pre-authorized, come in on a Business Visa and then be issued a Work Permit but it's not the most straightforward process in the world. It can be a bit cumbersome. There is a lot of documentation associated with it, so it's probably not a terrible idea for those who are looking at work pre-authorization, Business Visas and Work Permits to maybe contact a legal professional, gain some insight and guidance into how best to proceed.
