Is There a "Window" for Thai Citizenship Applications?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are asking is there a window for Thai citizenship application? What are we talking about?

Well strictly speaking there is a window associated with Thai Permanent Residence. What are we talking about? Well if you want to apply for Thai Permanent Residence you have to wait until they open literally the window to accept applications. They generally do that in the fourth quarter of the year. There have actually been calendar years that have gone by, even in my time here, where they didn't open the window at all. Now in that situation, that came shortly after the coup - I think that was '14 going into '15 - they did end up opening the window in January of the following year even though during the whole calendar year of '14 they never opened the window. So again, this fluctuates a little bit.

The question posed though is for citizenship application, “is there a window?” The short answer is No. That said, eligibility for citizenship it's a narrow subset of people that are going to meet those requirements. So again regardless of the fact that there's a window or not, they really don't have nearly the same demand for citizenship applications as they do for Permanent Residence applications; it's a wildly different thing. So yeah No, the short answer in this video is No. There is no window. You could in theory file year round but that said, Permanent Residence itself may be a precondition to be able to even file for citizenship depending on your circumstances. So generally speaking you're going to have to deal with that Permanent Residence window regardless, on your path to eventually applying for Thai citizenship.
