Thailand's Test & Go Program Ending in May?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the possibility of the scrapping of the Test & Go program at least as early as May of 2022. The reason for this that came to my attention an article from the NNT and via ASEAN NOW, aseannow.com, the article is titled: CCSA to consider proposal to suspend Test & Go and Thailand Pass. "A proposal to suspend the Test & Go scheme and Thailand Pass registration will be submitted to the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) after the Songkran holidays to boost the tourism industry. Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Rathchakitprakarn stated that the proposal will be presented at the CCSA meeting on April 22. If approved, the changes will most likely be effective on May 1."
Now a couple of things here. Let's note, this is not promulgated policy yet so they haven't met yet as of the time of this video and likely as of the time of the publication of this video; it hasn't been voted on; there has been no Cabinet resolution and we have not actually seen this policy change. So there are a few steps left before we would see this actually occur and then on top of that the earliest it looks like we would actually see it actually be rolled out in practice would be May 1, 2022. So quite a few tumblers have to fall for this lock to unlock but the good news is not having to deal with all of this rigmarole basically, all these hoops and things would definitely be a major improvement for those looking to come to Thailand especially as tourists.
As I have been talking about on this channel and I know many people have in other venues and out there in the sort of the blogosphere, in the Twittersphere and everything, it really is going to be time for the Tourism Sector to get revitalized here in Thailand and a big step is getting rid of a lot of this quite frankly just this unfettered bureaucracy associated with trying to even get into Thailand. So good news. It looks like Thailand Pass possibly going to be scrapped in the relatively near future as well as the Test & Go program. It hasn't happened yet, we will certainly keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
