Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor Forges Ahead

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the Eastern Economic Corridor. I got to thinking of this after reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post, that is bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: EEC Office banking on Japanese investors. Quoting directly: "The Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Office is keen to draw Japanese investment in electric vehicles, smart electronics, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, digital, smart farms, the bio-, circular and green (BCG) economic model and smart cities over the next decade. According to Petch Chinabutr, Deputy Secretary General of the Office, the strategy is based on a memorandum of intent on cooperation on green industry and advanced technological development signed by the EEC Office and the Japan External Trade Organization (Jetro) on Jan 13 this year during a visit to Thailand by the Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Koichi Hagiuda."

So, yeah a lot going on down there in the EEC and it looks like we are going to be seeing a lot more going on as time moves forward especially as we put the whole COVID thing behind us and we can get on with getting back to work. Hopefully we are going to start seeing major investments, major physical plant projects being put in to that area. There are a number of benefits associated with the Eastern Economic Corridor similar to the BOI but operating in a different manner insofar as it is sort of specific to that geographic area.

So something to take away from this video in my opinion is if you are looking at possibly coming into Thailand and setting up a business for the long term, it may be a good idea to look at the Eastern Economic Corridor as it might be some place that you are not really otherwise looking at that may provide some serious benefits that you didn't even know were out there or existed and you may be able to enjoy them quickly in terms of getting set up, getting it set up quickly, and then having those benefits for a relatively prolonged period of time.
