Thailand Permanent Residence Applications: Tax Issues

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Thai Permanent Residence applications and tax issues. One of the major, I would argue one of the integral pieces of a Permanent Residence application in Thailand is documentation pertaining to a history of tax payments. Something that the Officers at Thai Immigration look at heavily or they scrutinize heavily when they are adjudicating a Thai Permanent Residence application and having all ones ducks in a row with respect to tax documentation is extremely important.

In a very real sense, Accountants and Immigration lawyers work hand in glove on these cases at least here in our office. Our accounting side and our legal side work pretty closely together when they analyzing tax documentation regarding eligibility issues, also, when they are putting together the actual petition package to petition for Thai Permanent Residence.

It is something to think about. It is something a lot of people I don't think really think of when they think “Permanent Residence”. They are usually thinking about how long they have lived in Thailand, their status in Thailand, but tax comes up. Tax documentation is very important and those who are looking to gain Permanent Residence, it is probably a good idea to contact a legal professional that does have an accounting component that can assist in the accounting side with respect to the documentation associated with tax in Thailand in an application for PR.
