Is the Thailand Pass System Online for Quarantine-Free Travel?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the Thailand Pass system. For those who are unaware, since March of 2020 we have been operating under the Emergency Decree here in Thailand. Those who want to come in to Thailand including Thai Nationals to this point, have required in addition to a Visa or other travel document, have required a Certificate of Entry, also called a COE in order to enter Thailand. That is now changing. We are now transitioning into the Thailand Pass system so I want to go ahead and make this video to provide some clarity to folks. A lot of folks have been asking us, a lot of anticipation here about Thailand reopening to essentially quarantine free travel. So inbound travelers to Thailand, yeah they will need to undergo a test upon arrival and they will basically go into kind of a really super-duper truncated kind of quarantine until it is shown that they have passed their test and then they will be allowed to move along; they will be allowed to travel freely in Thailand thereafter.

To provide some clarity because people have been wanting to know what has going on with this, especially this past week, I am going to go ahead and throw this up. This is from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, specifically from the Department of Consular Affairs and this was promulgated 29th October, 2021. You can look for this in mfa.go.th. Thailand Pass FAQ's again, throw this up there so people can see it.

“1. When will Thailand Pass be open for registration?

-The Thailand Pass system will open for registration starting from 1 November 2021 at 0900 hours (Bangkok Time).”

So as of the time of this video we have passed that time threshold and we are now looking at the Thailand Pass rather than the COE for those coming into Thailand via air. Now understand, we have already started seeing this with some of our cases we are processing. There is going to be a little bit of turbulence, shall we say. There is always kind of some rocky road when you are dealing with a transition of this type going from Certificate of Entry over to Thailand Pass so it is going to probably take a minute to smooth out some of the rougher edges. Frankly if you have been watching our videos, I think this is definitely a good development overall as we were starting to see some real consternation being had by folks who were trying to deal with the Certificate of Entry process. So hopefully, the Thailand Pass system will be a smoother process.

That being stated there are still issues that we have seen in a lot of different cases and we anticipate seeing further. For those who feel like they need some assistance with this overall process, it may not be a terrible idea to go ahead and contact a legal professional, gain some insight and guidance into how best to proceed.
