Thailand Pass Ending Foretells Renewed Border Runs?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the end of Thailand Pass and for those who are unaware, it appears July 1, 2022 Thailand Pass is no more. We are just seeing that go by the wayside, hopefully completely and hopefully forever quite frankly.

The reason for this video is I was reading a recent article in the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Pattaya Grapevine: Immigration Melody, under the subheading: Border Visa Runs. Quoting directly: "With the passing of Thailand Pass on July 1, it should be quicker crossing by land into a neighbouring country and returning fairly quickly. That's because you no longer have to wait for a QR code, issued centrally. However, some Border Immigration Posts will insist you spend at least one night out of Thailand before coming back. Again, ask locally." That is well put. I think that is a good point. It remains to be seen. This video is being made slightly before the date the Thailand Pass actually comes to an end so it remains to be seen the actual practicalities associated with Border Running.

I definitely think Border Running is probably going to become more frequent than it has been in roughly the last two and a half years ever since, it really is almost surreal to think we were doing videos going back over 2 years ago when we were talking about the borders being shut down and now we are talking about the borders coming back open; it has just been a really kind of a long strange trip if you will. But the thing to take away from this video, yeah with Thailand Pass ending, I think Border Running becomes more feasible. As noted in other videos, the unvaccinated may have some issues with respect to Border Running but I suspect that those things will kind of work themselves out over the forthcoming few months maybe toward the end of the year.

The big thing to keep in mind, yeah that is not a bad observation that Immigration Officers, we were kind of starting to see that policy if only unofficially being imposed, where they said "look, if you are going to do a Border Run, we don't want you to just hop out and hop in, you need to stay out a day and then come back in". We were seeing that a little bit; I was talking to people; I was hearing anecdotally that that was happening back in '19 and early '20 so it stands to reason that we may see similar policies sort of enforced in the upcoming days and weeks. We will certainly keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
