Thai Senators Note Foreigners "Ignoring Work Permit Regulations"?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Senators apparently taking note of foreigners working illegally in Thailand. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article in the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Thai Government denies dangers from visa-free policy. The thrust of this article goes, there is lot of information here; I urge those who are watching this video, go check out that article in detail. I am going to quote a small except here, quoting directly: "Worries had been raised formally by Senate members noting recent scandals involving Chinese nationals ignoring Work Permit regulations or enrolling expensively at Thai language schools simply to extend their stay without any intention of learning."
Yeah so work authorization is something that Thai policy makers as well as lawmakers, as well as just the average rank and file every day Thais are very concerned about because again this is not a particularly large country in terms of yeah, it is not a small, small country but in terms of population, it is not a major multi hundreds of millions of people populated country; land mass wise there are bigger countries obviously than Thailand. That said, Thailand has always been very keen, very concerned about protecting its internal labour force. For this reason, issues like foreigners working illegally in Thailand are of grave concern to many lawmakers here in Thailand and I am not particularly surprised that this issue has come up. As we have noted in a number of prior videos, there has been a major influx since the repeal of the Emergency Decree and getting past all of the COVID nonsense and we have seen an influx of foreigners coming into Thailand. Most of them have been fine, they have come and gone, mostly they have been tourists, but there is a contingent that are both behaving badly and operating illegally by working either illegally as in having no Work Permit whatsoever or operating in violation of the restricted occupations set forth under Thai Law which stipulates that there are certain things that only Thai nationals can engage in. And I have discussed that at length in other videos.
But long story short, working without proper authorization is something that is going to concern Thai policy makers; I don't see that changing moving forward, and those who are looking to come to Thailand to work, it is definitely a good idea to go ahead and get the proper work authorization i.e. a Work Permit in order to go ahead and operate legally here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
