Thai Police Encourage Foreigners To Register Vehicle Ownership?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Thai Police sort of encouraging foreign nationals here to register the ownership of their vehicle. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Phuket News, that is thephuketnews.com, the article is titled: Tourist Police urge foreigners to have motorbikes registered in their name. Quoting directly: PHUKET: Phuket Tourist police are urging foreigners who buy motorbikes to make sure they have the green registration book and that ownership of the motorbike is registered in the foreigner's name after Officers were called in (I think in to) resolve a dispute between a Russian man and a motorbike rental shop that would not return his motorbike key." I urge those who are watching this video, go check out that article in detail.
But yeah, this is a good idea across the board. If you are looking to come to Thailand and purchase a car of motorbike whatever, you should register it in your name. Yes it is possible for foreign nationals to register vehicles in their name. The process of doing that is going to vary a little bit Province to Province; it is a bit of a nettlesome thing to undertake but at the end of the day it is definitely possible to obtain documentation for vehicle registration here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
