As the title of this video suggests, we are asking the question, "Has the Thai Permanent Residence window actually opened yet?" To the best of my knowledge, as of the time of this video, NO, it has not. We anticipate it imminently. Last year it opened in October so I suspect it will probably open in October again this year but again hard to say. It might be open now. I have looked around, I haven't found anything that said it is open yet, but as soon as it does open, that means sort of the stampede can begin to get PR applications on file and by stampede it is usually a crowd of dozens it is not a lot of people that apply for Permanent Residence status here in Thailand on a particularly regular basis but yeah there are people that do apply for it.

Again, understand we are not talking about the so called Long Term Residence Visas. Those are a new creation that is really just a long Non-immigrant Visa, it does not confer Residence in fact. The Permanent Residence window, that is a different thing. That is lawful Permanent Residence here in Thailand. That means those who are approved under this, they get dealt with under a different section of the Immigration Act here in Thailand than do those that are in Non-Immigrant Visa status. So very different thing you are dealing with when dealing with proper Thai Permanent Residence. 

But as of the time of this video, No in fact, I am not aware that the Permanent Residence window is open. I hope to be making a video announcing that it is open quite soon.
