Thai Permanent Residence Application Window Set to Open?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Permanent Residence in Thailand and guess what, it's that time of year again. Permanent Residence window is opening up and what does this mean? Well, it means a lot. It means that it is going to quickly be time for folks to be able to, if they are eligible, put their application on file with Thai Immigration. So I am going to go ahead and throw this on the screen from the Immigration Bureau, although I think they spelled Bureau wrong. The Announcement: Notification of Immigration Bureau Application for residential permit in the year B.E. 2565.

“Notification of Immigration Bureau admission of application for residential permit in the year B.E. 2565. According to the notification from Minister of Interior by approval of the Cabinet issued on August 10, 2022 regarding quota of aliens to have Residence in the Kingdom for the year 2022, the following stipulations are applied. The application can be submitted on the date 17 October, 2022 through 29 December, 2022 during office hours." So as of October 17th, it is possible to get a Permanent Residence Application on file.

Now a word of caution, if you are thinking of this for the first time now, go ahead and contact us if you want to look into getting on file while the window is open this year but really if you were looking to do this, you need to look to do this months out. We start preparing our clients' Permanent Residence Applications months in advance. Usually we like to have about 90 days to start pulling together everything we need to pull together, because you kind of end up on a deadline coming to the end of the year trying to get everything pulled together and on file.

So the thing to take away from this video is if you are just now looking at this and you think you might qualify, probably you are going to end up filing next year. That is not a foregone conclusion, it may be possible depending on circumstances that you can file this year but we are cutting ii a little close now. I mean I know that sounds strange October, November, December, but it really isn't. I mean these are like phone books some of these petitions for Permanent Residence. They are thick; there's a lot of documentation, a lot of information that's conveyed in them, so it is not something that you just kind of do willy-nilly. So if you are only looking at this for the first time, you may be able to do it but it may be next year before you get in there. The other thing to remember, this is more for the folks maybe clients of ours whatever who have been working on it, yeah we are coming down to crunch time here. So, in the coming weeks, it looks like we are going to have the ability to get these cases on file, the filings perfected and then to start moving these through the process. So hopefully, we are going to start seeing some progress on that sooner rather than later.
