Thai O-A Retirement Visas and Emergency Decree Termination

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing O-A Retirement Visas; that is O-A Retirement Visas not to be confused with O Retirement Visas. We made another video contemporaneously with this one where we discuss O Retirement Visas so be on the lookout on this channel for that video.

The O-A Retirement Visa, what will happen to it if and when the Emergency Decree promulgated on March 2020 regarding COVID-19, what will happen when that Decree ends? What is going to happen to the Retirement Visa?

Well that is a pretty good question. My answer to it is probably not very much. Presumably when the Emergency Decree ends we will see the end of so-called Certificates of Entry and with that we will probably see the end of the requirement to have COVID-19 Insurance although a regulation could be promulgated in the meantime which would make those requirements more permanent. But as the law sits right now, strictly speaking as the regulations at Immigration sit right now, if the Emergency Decree were to end, then the O-A would snap back to what it was in the first quarter of 2020 and the rules regarding the O-A would snap back as well. So yes, standard medical insurance would still be required as was required prior to that going back to October 2019 when that was made a requirement just generally. But things like specific COVID Insurance, presumably that could go away  Again the Certificate of Entry could go away and yeah the overall O-A Retirement process would become less cumbersome than it is as of the time of this video.
