As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing O Retirement Visa Extensions as opposed to O-A Retirement Visas. Again I know this gets complex for some people and it kind of is a little overwhelming and frustrating if you are coming at this for the first time, but yeah, there is a difference in Retirement Visa between the categorization of O-A Retirement Visas generally issued at Embassies and Consulates outside of Thailand, as opposed to an O Retirement Visa Extension which is issued here in Thailand under the auspices of Thai Immigration. 

Now with regard to an O Visa Extension, those types of visas are dealt with at Immigration and the Extension itself is only what it is; it is simply the Extension. It does not have, so basically it doesn't have a re-entry permit automatically attached to it. If you leave the Kingdom and you have had an O Retirement Visa Extension and you don't have a re-entry permit and you leave the Kingdom, that Visa Extension will extinguish at the moment you depart, so bear that in mind. So in order to maintain status and be able to come and go on a long-term basis while being retired here in Thailand, if you are using an O Retirement Visa Extension you need to go ahead and get a separate Re-Entry Permit in order to be able to come and go throughout the duration of that Visa Extension's validity here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
