As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the O Marriage Visa and the process of obtaining or extending an O Marriage Visa in Thailand in 2022. Now I sometimes do these videos where I do a roundup, just my thoughts going into the New Year just generally on an overall Visa category. 

Now O Marriage Visas or even O Visas for parents of Thai children, these cases are always very fact case specific; they are always very adjudicator specific. So you may get an officer in one location, one jurisdiction that may take one take on O Marriage Visas while another office may take a different take. One thing we have often seen with respect to O Marriage Visas especially in recent years, is more inspections. There just seems to be more scrutiny on O Marriage Visa applications. We have found this to especially be the case in O Marriage Visa applications where there is not a Work Permit present; where the applicant is utilizing money in a bank account and is not, at least ostensibly not working in Thailand. Oftentimes we find a lot of retirees don't work in Thailand. They are just using an O Marriage Visa to stay here. In the past there were folks that sometimes would use an O Marriage Visa to physically be here and then they kind of worked "under the table" without a Work Permit. Immigration didn't like that very much and I remember going back about five six years ago, there were a couple of cases I saw where folks lost their status under such circumstances. 

I haven't really seen a lot of that go on here in the past year or so but moving into 2022, something to keep in the back of your mind with respect to processing and applying for an O Marriage Visa is the possibility and it is not a particularly remote possibility that you may be subject to an inspection at your home as a result of the application and in furtherance of the adjudication of an application for an O Marriage Visa status.
