The Thai O Marriage Visa Process in 2020

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the O Marriage Visa. That is the sort of miscellaneous category Visa that is used specifically for those who are married to Thai Nationals.

Now unlike US Immigration, and we have done some videos on US Immigration in 2020 on this channel, unlike US Immigration Thai Immigration does change pretty quickly at the beginning of the year. We oftentimes see administrative regulations roll out at the beginning of the year. Most of the time we sort of clench our teeth going into January wondering when the other shoe is going to drop. Thus far this year, we have yet to see any major changes but that being said the year is young and they may not have exactly put finishing touches on things they may seek to roll out.

As I stated in another video I think for example Retirement Visas, I don't think we are going to see a lot of changes with respect to the rules regarding Retirement Visas and I think it is pretty safe to say that will probably be the case for Marriage Visas but I want to give a small caveat and I don't wish to alarm anyone but it is something to keep in the back of one's mind with respect to Marriage Visas and it is something we discussed in 2019.

The Medical Insurance requirement associated with Retirement Visas, that requirement, I am not saying it is going to happen in 2020 and it is certainly not a prediction, but I have discussed it with viewers of the channel, folks who have commented, clients, I have discussed it even with friends, I think that there is an off chance that we may see that Medical Insurance requirement expanded possibly to include O Marriage Visa holders at some point.  Now exactly when this would come about remains to be seen; if this would come about remains to be seen. I am not saying it will happen. In fact I think it is still remains a very remote chance that that would happen because of the rather daunting task of implementing that kind of regulation and the Marriage Visa is a different kind of category compared to the Retirement Visa wherein you have a certain demographic specific to Retirement Visas. Marriage Visas runs a much broader spectrum and the demography is very different. You are dealing with people in all walks of life for example whereas with retirees generally, you are dealing with a much more specific subset of people. So I don't think that this is going to happen in 2020 but those who are keeping track of these things probably not a terrible idea to keep in the back of your mind that at some point in the future and it maybe 2020, Medical Insurance may be required in the context of a Thai O Marriage Visa.
