The Thai Immigration TM7 Visa Status Extension Form in 2021

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the TM7 form. We are going to go ahead and throw this on screen. This form is associated with extending status in Non-Immigrant Visa status here in Thailand. We will go ahead and throw this up on screen.

So specifically the title is: Application for Extension of Temporary Stay in the Kingdom

I am making this video prospectively for 2021, for folks that may be looking to extend their status, just to provide a little bit of insight. What is the extension process like compared to times past? Well in many ways it is a little less difficult, especially in the Business Visa context we have found that especially with respect to businesses that have had to suspend operations or at some point during the year had to fully shut down, there has been some sympathy from Thai Immigration officers with respect to documentation pertaining to the company whereas under normal circumstances they are quite stringent about that documentation especially associated with a B Visa. Currently not quite so bad. We have also seen circumstances where they have shown a little bit of discretionary latitude with respect to things like the Retirement Visa, and documentation associated with that.

Long story short, overall we are talking let's be clear here, this is not Visa processing at a Thai Embassy or Consulate abroad. The TM7 is used by Thai Immigration here in country which is a different thing altogether. Ministry of Foreign Affairs oversees Embassies and Consulates, the Interior Ministry oversees Immigration here in country and they do things slightly but qualitatively under some circumstances, differently.

As of now, I think the TM7 is about what it was a year ago. I don't really think we are going to see radical changes to how the TM7 form and the application documentation associated therewith is required in the coming weeks and months.
