Thai Immigration Procedures In A Criminal Context?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Immigration procedures in a criminal context. For those who watch this channel fairly frequently, you will know that I have been keeping track of Surachate "Big Joke" Hakparn, as he has now kind of gone on a mission if you will to stop and deter and apply the law vigorously in matters pertaining to sex offenses and human trafficking here in Thailand.
I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Nation that is nationthailand.com, the article is titled: "3 Pattaya cops face disciplinary action over escape by German, American suspects. Now I made another video where I go into some analysis and do a deep dive into the article itself. I urge those who are watching this video, go check that article out for yourself as well, but the thrust of this video is specifically on the topic of Immigration procedures in a criminal context. I thought of making this video after reading this excerpt. Quoting directly: "The Officer must inform the Immigration Bureau of the arrest so that the Visas of the suspects are revoked and the suspects are taken into custody by Immigration Police once bail has been granted."
So yeah, the general procedure associated with any kind of criminal matter that pertains to a foreigner here in Thailand is there will be involvement by Thai Immigration Police and obviously so because Immigration Police has a mandate for not only registering and monitoring foreign nationals here in Thailand but also making sure that they are in lawful status. Even when one is under something akin to an indictment here in Thailand, basically under investigation pending court proceedings, you still have to deal with your Visa at the end of the day and Immigration will do certain things to maintain one's lawful status in the Kingdom while an adjudication is underway. They also, in the event that one is convicted, they can also go ahead and initiate deportation proceedings and presumably they will probably put that person onto the Blacklist.
So again, Immigration in and of itself has a very significant albeit narrow function within the criminal justice apparatus here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
