Thai Immigration Officials Increasingly Serious About Overstay?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the possibility of overstay in Thailand and the fact that Thai Immigration seems increasingly serious about targeting people who do overstay in Thailand.

I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Summary of Thai Visas Available: January 2024. Quoting directly: "Overstaying a Visa for a limited period can be canceled by fines - 500 Baht a day to a maximum of 20,000 Baht - but overstays for more than three months will likely lead to deportation and blacklisting." Yeah, and as we have also discussed, there is another component of the Blacklist, there is another component of the consequences if you will, the rap sheet, whatever you want to call it, but the rules regarding overstay which stipulate that if you are caught in country by Law Enforcement or Immigration, if you are caught in country i.e. you haven't left the country, they have apprehended you while you are in the Kingdom and you are on even one day of overstay, that can lead to a 5-year ban notwithstanding the fact you may not have hit 90 days of overstay. The 90-day rule only applies if you voluntarily leave and they ascertain your overstay at the checkpoint when you depart the country. If you are caught here in Thailand in overstay it could lead to a major finding of inadmissibility going into the future, i.e. a 5-year ban from returning to Thailand. So something to keep in mind is we have noted it on this channel via a number of cited news sources wherein Thai Immigration is basically seeing that somebody goes into overstay by a day and they cross-reference, now due to digitization they are able to cross reference where someone is staying, they basically show up at that person's door, knock on the door, they open the door and they say "are you so and so?" and they say "yes" and they say "okay you are on one day of overstay, you are deported”, and that person is now banned from returning to Thailand for five years.

So again the thing to take away from this video is Thai Immigration Police are serious about overstay; they now have the tools in order to enforce it very quickly and the result could be even a minor overstay could result in a major ban from returning to the Kingdom of Thailand.
