The Thai Immigration Office in Ayutthaya, Thailand

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the Thai Immigration Office in Ayutthaya, Thailand.

An Immigration Office for an expat in Thailand is, I won't say the center of their universe it is certainly not that, but it is sort of something one is tethered to in a certain way because a local Immigration office is the office at which one has to deal with Immigration matters. For example things like 90-day reporting, things like TM30 filing, things like visa extension application have to be done at a Thai immigration office. The Thai Immigration Office in Ayutthaya, Thailand is located at Uthong Road, Ho Rattanachai, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya 13000.  Sometimes when I read the transliterated version of Thai, it kind of throws me off a little bit.

The other thing to take away from this video is, different Thai Immigration Offices are going to do things slightly differently. The overall Immigration law is uniform. It applies to all matters pertaining to Immigration within the Kingdom of Thailand. However the local offices and the local officers working therein have a certain degree of administrative discretion associated with the carrying out of their Immigration functions and duties. For this reason, different offices may do things slightly differently.  For example the Immigration office in Koh Samui may like a certain type of documentation to prove up a certain element of eligibility associated with a specific Thai visa category and that type of documentation may differ from the type of documentation that perhaps may be used by the Thai Immigration Office in Ayutthaya.

So the thing to take away from this video is I see a lot of people and I hear from a lot of people that tell me "oh well in this office they said XYZ. I need to do this in order to get my Visa." Well that may be true in that particular office but it may not be true in a different office. So the thing to understand is again different offices do things differently and those who are doing things in a Ayutthaya, if you change provinces and go into Ayutthaya, Ayutthaya may be different for you. If you have been used to dealing with the Bangkok Immigration Offices it may be slightly different notwithstanding geographically they are not too far apart; I won't say worlds way but it may be dissimilar in how they process your case through.

So different Offices handle things slightly differently. Something to keep in mind when extending your visa here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
