Thai Holidays See Immigration Offices Closed

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Thai holidays and the closure of Immigration Offices. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Thailand Immigration holidays upcoming, insurance requirements alert. To quote the relevant excerpt, although I do urge folks who are watching this video go check out that article in its entirety, a lot of information in there. "Immigration Bureaux nationwide will be closed on Thursday July 28 and Friday July 29 for the public holidays of His Majesty the King's birthday. Friday is an extension of the celebration to create a long weekend via Government policy to boost domestic tourism during the COVID crisis."

So yeah, what we are looking at basically is a four-day weekend here in Thailand and Immigration Offices are going to be closed. Now for those folks who have visas for example that expire during this period, we see this happen a lot with folks that are tourists. They are not really aware of Thai holidays; their Visas expire. Don’t fret, you will be able to deal with your Visa extension on the next day that they are open. So policy is that if there's a holiday that intervenes, your Visa expires during that holiday period, you go in on the next day that Immigration is open after that holiday period. By next day, I mean next day, there is not leeway thereafter. You need to be there on the next day that Immigration offices are open and Immigration Authorities have the discretion to go ahead and extend that Visa notwithstanding the fact that it technically expired over the holiday period because frankly you couldn't get it extended anyway because it expired during a period when Immigration was closed. But yeah, it's good to be aware of this. Immigration Offices are going to be closed; there is a 4-day weekend in Thailand. Those who see their visa status expire during that period, do not freak out. Just find out the next day Immigration will be open; travel to the Immigration Office on that day and get your visa extended at that time.
