As the title of this videos just, we are discussing the so-called Golden Visa, also caller the Long-Term Residence Visa here in Thailand or the LTR visa. It is a bit of a misnomer, not a Residence Visa; as we have discussed in many videos, it does not confer Permanent Residence here in Thailand; it is sort of a really long Non-Immigrant Visa. It also is not really a 10 year Visa because you have got to deal with the first five years in order to get the next five years. So again, not quite as many benefits as one would initially think or were sort of touted in the beginning of all this. 

Again, this is like anything. I am not trying to run the thing down, it is more just this is how this kind of evolves. They always kind of come out with these new promotions, kind of Visa promotions and then we kind of see it shake out, see how it is kind of going to look. The LTR looks to me a lot like the old Smart Visa. Yeah it has some major benefits, it is going to apply to a relatively narrow band of potential Expats or travellers to Thailand. The other thing to take away from this video, we had a lot of people asking us what's the process like? Well it is pretty opaque at the moment dealing with BOI. The overall process isn't really all that clear yet. It is kind of evolving; we are seeing developments but as of now, it's really kind of hard to say with any definition exactly what the process is looking like. So hopefully we will be able to do so as we get through the next coming weeks and months and we will certainly do updates as best we can.
