Thai Business Visas in an Uncertain Immigration Environment?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Business Visas. There has been a lot of talk lately, there have been all kinds of discussions about recent announcements from Thai Immigration, the fact that, "oh we may not be able to extend status and this, that, and Border Runs may no longer be a thing." Well guess what? If you're in Thailand on a standard Business Visa with a Work Permit, I'm pretty sure you don't care about any of this stuff. And why is that? It doesn't pertain to you.

One of the big reasons for getting into any kind of Non-immigrant status, in my opinion at least, is to avoid all of the hassle associated with trying to run around and cobble together Immigration status here in Thailand using Visa Exemptions or DTVs or Tourist Visas or this, that and the other thing, rather than just seeking a visa that fits your needs. Also, the other thing I've noticed is people all trying to dodge and weave around Thai Work authorization rather than just going and getting it. Again, if you're going to work in Thailand and you know yourself if you are going to be doing that, then you need to seek a proper visa that allows for work authorization; bobbing and weaving isn't going to do anything. At the end of the day, you probably are going to end up expending more time, resources and energy trying to sort of get around the rules as they are, rather than just getting locked into a long-term visa to allow you to remain here in proper status in the long term. Again, each individual case is going to drive individual analysis.

That being said, those who feel a bit overwhelmed about out both obtaining and maintaining both Visa and Work Permit status here in Thailand, it may not be a terrible idea to contact a legal professional, gain some insight and guidance into how best to proceed.
