Thai Business Visas and Work Permits for the Self-Employed

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing, well Work Permits and Business Visas for the self-employed. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: The ever-changing world of Thai Work Permits for foreigners. A really interesting article; lot of information in there. I urge those who are watching this video, go read that article in detail. We are going to pull out one excerpt from this video where we are going to discuss specifically Business Visa and Work Permits associated with being self-employed.

We do a lot of these kind of visas here in our office; we have got a lot of SME clients here; I started that way 15 years ago, sort of got set up and did business on my own here in Thailand and used that business to maintain Work Permit and Visa status. Quite honestly in my opinion, it is the number one tried and true method of maintaining long-term status in Thailand in any way that's even slightly autonomous. Quoting directly: "Where the Foreigner intends to start his own registered company to trade in Thailand and beyond, the first steps are to register a company name with the Business Development Agency" (I think they mean DBD, Department of Business Development) quoting further: "The next step is to obtain the Non-Immigrant B Visa abroad and on return, submit an application for a Work Permit at the Department of Employment and an extended visa from the Immigration Bureau. It's a complex process usually requiring professional legal input." Yeah, that's pretty well put.

Yeah, we deal with a lot of Work Permits and Business Visas. Quite honestly the applications are about this thick, paper thick, associated with Work Permits and Business Visas. It's cumbersome, it's not something people particularly enjoy. We pride ourselves here in our office of providing a service that we try to make it as absolutely painless to the client as possible where they just basically come in, we move them through the system and they go on about doing business. Because quite honestly people don't want to move to Thailand to sit around a bunch of bureaucrat's offices signing documentation all day. They want to do business. That's the point of going into business in Thailand and again here at Integrity, we strive to provide a service with respect to Business Visa and Work Permit issuance that really streamlines it and hopefully makes it a process that people can kind of get through and put behind them so they can keep doing what they need to get done here in the Kingdom.
