Thai Authorities "Monitor the Activities of Foreign Residents"?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing, well as the title of it suggests, we are discussing Thai Authorities specifically Immigration Authorities are monitoring certain foreigners.
I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Immigration ramps up checks on foreigners. Quoting directly: "Since the start of October, authorities have barred over 2,000 individuals from entering the country many of whom were already on the Immigration Blacklist, he said, adding Authorities will also monitor the activities of foreign residents more closely during the Summit." and he being an Immigration official. I urge those who are watching this video go check out that article read it in detail. This quote I found interesting: "Those who are found to be involved in suspicious activities will be questioned and deported, he said." Well yeah, but suspicious activities is a little vague but I thought it was even more interesting, "monitor the activities of foreign residents" too.
So again in the sort of lead up to this APEC Summit and I'm making this video prior to this transpiring but, it looks like Thai Immigration really is kind of taking a firm stance and maintaining a lot of heavy scrutiny on not only people trying to come into Thailand but people that are already in Thailand and as we have discussed in other videos, they have been making a lot of arrests. They have found a lot of folks here in Thailand who are either here illegally or who are operating some sort of illegal business and it is turning out to be a real problem for those folks and they are getting deported, presumably blacklisted. With the use of biometrics they will probably never be able to get back in. So again, interesting times we are in here in Thailand but definitely seeing a higher level of scrutiny coming from the Immigration Authorities.
