As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the "sandbox" quarantine. We have talked about this in another video; that is the quarantine that ostensibly we are going to see broadly in Thailand in October 2021. That is what they have been talking about.

In a recent article from thaipbsworld.com, and the article is titled: TAT to Propose "Sandbox" Travel Bubble Model to the CCSA this Friday. That is this coming Friday as of the time of this video. Quoting directly: "TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand) TAT Governor, Yuthasak Supasorn said today that under the "sandbox" model which will be proposed to the Center of COVID-19 Situation Administration, CCSA, at its meeting on Friday, the Thai government or a Thai city, will negotiate with their foreign counterparts to arrange a travel bubble to allow the two sets of citizens who have been vaccinated to visit specific areas without having to be quarantined. He said that Phuket has been chosen as the first city for the trial of the "Sandbox" model but authorities concerned must first check the readiness of the private sector and the local people to accept the model adding that the first group of foreign tourists is likely be Chinese." 

So interesting developments here. They seem to be trying to push this forward at least for Phuket. We have seen developments like this try to bubble up to the surface and be popped. We saw it back in the summer of 2020 where they were talking about specific travel arrangements under the "Travel Bubble" scheme for travel into Phuket and then that was all sidelined. It remains to be seen whether or not this actually will come to pass hence the reason that in the title of this video we said "appears to be coming closer". The fact of the matter is, we get to see exactly how this is going to play out. As it stands, it appears that we are still dealing with this phased process; April 1 to July 1; July 1 to the end of September, October 1; and then October 1 to the end of the year with apparently things going back to "normal" in January of 2022. Again, as a practical matter, all of this remains to be seen. We will keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
