As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing "a ploy to extend" Thai visas. What are we talking about here? I thought of making this video after reading a recent article which I have quoted a lot here recently. A lot of information in this article, from the Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: 100 cops to be charged over illegal visas. Again I am going to quote a small excerpt from this. I urge those who are watching this video, go check out that article in detail, again a lot going on in there.

Quoting directly: "Many applicants submitted documents regarding their stay issued by language schools or volunteer foundations as a ploy to extend their visa." Yeah, this is something that I have discussed at length regarding things like the so-called Volunteer Visa here in Thailand as well as the so-called, well not so-called but the Education Visa here in Thailand and I am talking about this in the context of people who are using it as a pretense or pretext or a pretense; you basically, ostensibly you are going to school in order to get an Education Visa or ostensibly one is volunteering for a foundation here in Thailand when in reality it is just being used for a Visa basically; it is all sort of again a pretense.

Thai Immigration is really taking this seriously and they are cracking down hard on it. I think moving further into 2023, I think that this is probably going to become more acute. Now exactly how this plays out remains to be seen but I think it is pretty prudent for those who are looking to live in Thailand, get a Visa that is in line with what you are doing here. For example, especially if you are looking to work in Thailand, you need to go ahead and get the proper documentation associated with work authorization and a Business Visa but the major thing to think about when it comes to this and the thing to take away from this video is the fact that yeah you should not be using any Visa just purely as a pretense. It really does need to be a Visa that you are actually using for the purposes stipulated.
