Phase 2 of "Area Quarantine" Easing for Travelers to Thailand

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing this oft discussed phase two of the proposed gradual easing of restrictions for tourists inbound to Thailand. We are quoting directly from Thai Visa, that is thaivisa.com, the article is titled: Tourism Reopening: Four Phases on the Cards - no Quarantine at all from October. So again that is thaivisa.com. They appear to be quoting from Bangkok Business News, that is BBN and just quoting as a preamble: "BBN said that D-Day for the start of what is known as area quarantine part of what is now being called "open system" will be April 1st." In another video we made on this channel we discussed phase 1 which goes from April through May; so check out that video to understand what is going to be happening or what is proposed. Again these are all proposals. To one degree or another, this is all a level of speculation. The level of exposure this has gotten and it seems to be being pushed by a number of Ministries, this does seem to be to me probably going to be the overall framework of how this is going to work but again there are often times twists and changes between what they are discussing and what actually gets implemented. So again, it is probably a good idea to keep up with this if you are looking to come in and try to gain as much benefit as you can from the phasing in of these ease of restrictions.

For purposes of this video, phase 2 is going to be June to September. It would involve the setting up of an exclusive travel area or sealed route in which tourists could move around while doing area quarantine for 10 days. As they note, folks that are coming in in this phased quarantine and I will quote directly from a part above: "Tourists will still have to quarantine for 7 days from April to September, if they have been given two doses of vaccine in their home countries. It is 10 days for those not vaccinated."  So that is what we are looking at during this interim phase. Everyone is going to have to quarantine whether they are vaccinated or not. Quoting further: "They would be restricted where they can move. After they have completed their quarantine, they can travel anywhere in Thailand. The plan is to have area quarantine in Phuket, Pattaya, Krabi, Chiang Mai, Surat Thani (Koh Tao, Koh Samui and Koh Phangan) Phangnga and Bangkok."

Now again, this phase two to me it is a little bit more vague. I think this is more squishy and we are going to see how this plays. It looks like there is going to be a kind of area around the quarantine hotel that is a little bit wider birth I guess that will be sealed so folks that come in and they are quarantining will have like a little area and as we discussed in the phase one of this, again phase 2 this is June to September, phase 1 is April to May. In phase 1 of this, mostly everything is in the hotel. You can swim, you can do the fitness center or whatnot but it seems to be you know concentrated on Hotel grounds. This phase 2 it is a little broader it looks like. I suspect maybe even beachfront hotels, you may be able to get down to the beach. It remains to be seen. This will probably be when the rubber hits the road on the regulations on this where we see a lot of changes from the vague notions where this started down to the narrow practicalities of what abilities you have while you are undertaking this part of the quarantine.

That being said, we will try to keep you updated on this channel. This all remains speculation as of this time but as the situation evolves we will keep you updated via this channel.
