As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Thai O Retirement Visas. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Reviewing the five visa options for retirement in Thailand. Quoting directly: "One big attraction for many of the Non-Immigrant "O" route is that to date, medical insurance is not required and the paperwork is fairly straightforward." Yeah fairly straightforward is a bit of an understatement. There is documentation associated with the O Retirement Visa extension; there is also documentation associated with banking that goes into a Thai O Retirement Visa Extension. 

Yes, as noted in that except, and I urge those who are watching this video, go read that article for yourself, a lot of good information in there. But yes it is a good point which is brought up which is that yeah one of the big sort of upsides of the Thai O Retirement Visa for many is the fact that the Thai O Retirement Visa does not require Insurance; it does not require medical insurance in the same way that the O-A Retirement Visa does. As we noted in prior videos, there is an insurance policy requirement associated with the O-A Retirement Visa and then recently, as of I believe October last year I believe, the new rules were enacted regarding whether or not, if you don't have insurance you can use money in a bank account to meet that insurance requirement but in order to meet that insurance requirement for the O-A Retirement Visa you need 3 million baht in a Thai Bank Account to meet that requirement. So again, these are major upsides to the Thai O Retirement Visa when one compares it to the O-A Retirement Visa for retirement here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
