No More TM6 Forms For Border Runs In Thailand?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are positing the question "are TM6 forms no longer going to be required in Border runs?" So for those who are unaware, the TM6 form is sort of the arrival/departure card. Everybody used to have to deal with this if you were foreign national coming into Thailand. When you came into Thailand, you would be admitted and then you would be issued this little card that had like your address and where you were going to stay and everything on it.
When they brought in biometrics, they effectively phased that out at the airports but land borders have continued to use them and it does seem as though they are being phased out although it does not appear, I repeat it does not appear that all land borders have at this time phased out the TM6.
What am I talking about here? I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: PMs, Srettha, Anwar to talk trade. Quoting directly: "Among items to be discussed include a proposal by Thai tourism businesses to allow five other Immigration checkpoints in the deep South to exempt Malaysian visitors from filling in the Tor Mor 6 (that is the TM6) Immigration clearance form said a source." I have heard this more from other sources anecdotally, that it looks like yeah along the Thai - Malaysian border they are probably going to, again it is not a foregone conclusion just yet, but it does look like they are going to phase out the TM6 form.
The question posed is "will this become standard operating procedure at all of Thailand's border checkpoints?" That remains to be seen but we will certainly keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
