No More 30-Day Thai Visa Extensions?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are posing the question, “no more 30-day Visa Extensions?” Let me be clear at the outset of this video, that is not the case, but I wanted to provide clarification for viewers because there seems to be some misinformation out there.
I thought of making him this video after reading a recent actually email from a viewer. Quoting directly: "Hi Benjamin, I think you produce great content." - thank you - "I am really sorry to bother you there but you seem to very often know what you are talking about." - well I try to - Quoting further: "Yesterday I heard some information via YouTube channel that Thai Immigration is no longer letting people on a 60-day on arrival visa exemption stamp extend at an Immigration Office for another 30 days as of November 13, 2025. I went to my local Immigration Office this morning and asked the question to an official there. The lady said I can extend twice per calendar year for 30 days each time. I know sometimes rule changes here can be confusing and not so informative, but do you have any information regarding this as I am a little confused with it all. I looked at the Thai Immigration website in the section for extensions, and it stated the requirements for an extension. It did say you need to have a Tourist Visa but I don't know if it has always said that or it has been updated since the new changes to take place on November 13, 2025. I have no problem with any rule changes as I'm only a tourist here but I am confused and just want clarity so that I can make my plans accordingly. Thank you very much." Well, you're welcome.
Okay yeah, I haven't heard anything like that. I went and I had the staff double check before I made this video, no. And just for further edification, I went over to Google - we'll put this on screen - I basically asked Google, "no 30-day extension on 60-day stamp Thailand?" Google's AI came back and said "you can get a 30-day extension for a 60-day stamp in Thailand by applying at an Immigration Office before your current stay expires." So again, I haven't heard anything to the effect that there is no longer allowed 30-day extensions on 60-day stamps. I mean candidly if an announcement like that came, it wouldn't be overly surprising as they made the different policy shift with regard to 60-day stamps as opposed to 30, only roughly within about the past 18 to 20 months; it's not that old of a policy. That being said, no I haven't seen anything to this effect. It doesn't look like they are not allowing folks to get another 30 days added on to a 60-day stamp here in Thailand. Maybe this is changing. Again I've checked, some research, and this person said they heard it on YouTube. Well unfortunately YouTube is not always the absolute end-all-be-all best source for information, so there's that.
That being said, again notwithstanding the fact we haven't heard anything on this, as of now it looks like again it is still possible to get an additional 30-day stamp. We will continue keeping people updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
