No 90 Day Reporting for Thai LTR Visas?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing LTR Visas and the question posed is "do they need to do 90-day reporting?" We have discussed this in other videos before. I don't see how they can be created and not require 90-day reporting because to not require that I would think would require an amendment of the Immigration Act of 1979.

That being said I got to thinking of making this video when I read a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, pattayamail.com. A lot of information in here. I urge those who are watching this video go check out that article, but the article is titled: Thailand's latest 10-Year Retirement Visa available from September. Quoting directly: "The LTR retiree option requires a pension of 80,000 Baht" - I think it was meant to say Dollars a year because that is what I have seen in everything else including the official publications on this - Quoting directly: "Again the LTR retiree option requires a pension of 80,000 Baht (I think that is Dollars) quoting further: "a year or if less a $250,000 US investment in Government Bonds or Public Companies. There is compulsory ongoing Insurance of US$50,000 and a minimum age of 50. Earlier announcements claim that (for all LTRs) there would be no requirements to perform the 90 days reporting ritual and even suggested that voluntary or unpaid work might now be allowed. Ability to buy freehold property from developers was also mooted. These details have never been clarified and still aren't." Yeah good point, well said. That's well put in that article, a lot of insight in there and I couldn't agree more.

I don't see where anybody has come out and said there is not going to be 90-day reporting here and I don't see exactly how they can do that without fundamentally changing certain aspects of Thai Immigration Law because at the end of the day these are Non-Immigrant Visas and Non-Immigrant Visas are specifically covered with specific provisions including requirements for 90-day reporting in Thailand that is covered under the Immigration Act of '79. So again, it remains to be seen how this is all going to play out. Probably if I was looking at this I wouldn't particularly hold my breath if I am looking at the Long Term "Resident" Visa because I wouldn't hold my breath that 90-day reporting won't be required because I just think that might be something that, I am not going to say it is impossible to do but there just might not be the political will to change those requirements. So we will certainly keep folks updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
