New Thailand Privilege (Formerly Elite) Visa By Invitation Only?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing what was once being called the Thailand Elite Visa, now apparently is being called a Thailand Privilege Visa; we are sort of transitioning here and again I am not sure of all this terminology just quite yet so bear with me a moment. Hopefully this will all kind of shake out in the upcoming weeks and we will sort of know what terminology to be using moving forward.

I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post, that is bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Elite Card price to be increased by 50%. I am sort of paraphrasing here: "Reserve Visas" So that is the new most high level what we had called Elite Visa going to be called Privilege Visa, in the new scheme we are going to have this thing called a Reserve Visa and that is sort of the top level. So quoting further: "Reserve Visas will be accepted on the basis of by-invitation applications, with only 100 members per year."

So it looks like moving forward to get the 20-year Elite Visa it is going to be sort of an invitation only thing and they are only going to allow 100 per year. So this is somewhat similar to the quota associated with Thai Permanent Residence which we have discussed in other videos where they do a quota by nationality every year at 100. It appears that the Thailand Elite Visa, or what was called the Thailand Elite Visa, not only is the cost going up substantially, which we have discussed in other videos, it's going up 150%, it's going to be 5 million Baht for the 20-year Visa. On top of that, it's only going to have 100 people per year able to even get the visa. So moving forward, it looks like what was the Thailand Elite Visa, now going to be called the Thailand Privilege Visa, is going to be much more exclusive than the program once was.
